There have been several individuals who have been recognized as the “youngest neurosurgeon” at different points in time. One example is Dr. Francisco Ponce, who became a licensed physician at the age of 21 and completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston at the age of 26. Another example is Dr. Lee Jong-wook, who became a neurosurgeon at the age of 27 and went on to serve as the Director-General of the World Health Organization. However, it’s important to note that becoming a successful neurosurgeon requires not only exceptional talent but also years of rigorous training and experience, regardless of age.
